Originally by: Sphit Ker Greetings!
I managed to get this going on the Mac. It required almost 3GB of downloads and many loooong hours of compiling. Thankfully, I have some experience in compiling tarballs. I understand most people do not. Applying a simple .diff patch is quite hard when you have no idea what going on. The fact it require the use of the Terminal might be sufficient in itself to make people go like 'meh'. IÆd like to spare this to people. I want to provide a convenient binary peeps can download and place in their Dock as they expect to be able to do, sort of.
Problem is, I have to fracking clue how to accomplish this >.> Can you assist, please?
Hey there, I researched this a bit myself back a while ago and ended up finding http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gtk-osx/wiki/Bundle, unfortunatly, I don't have any MAC to try it on, but the instructions look pretty easy to follow. Good luck on it, please post here should any issues arise and i'll try to help (also feel free to hop on the #pyfa channel on irc.freenode.org :>)

Hi again. I looked into it. Im afraid I canÆt get this going as easily as I hoped I would. Specifically, the bundle step. Im supposed to make a list of all dependencies and I donÆt ôgetö how. I hate being the needy guy but youÆll have to take my hand and walk me through it, haha. If you donÆt want or canÆt itÆs just too bad, really.
Also, pyfa does not save the API data. I have to re-input it every time.
please hop on irc, I should be on it around 9 am GMT

Not to worry however, We're working on a rewrite that will be based on wxPython (as well as a web version with the use of pyjamas). So it'll run nativly without any complicated hacks on all platforms.

Suggestions?
Edit: All sorted. Reading the urllib doccos indicated that the http_proxy environment variable is used.
I'm glad to hear its all sorted.
On another note, I'm currently -activly- looking for people that can help with the development of pyfa1. A tester would be awesome, as well as people with experience with wxPython and/or pyjamas. Anyone with experience in designing xml/json-rpc APIs is also very welcome.

Originally by: VoggFight I'm already using EFT and I wanted to try this as an alternative.. There are some things that I'd like to see changed in EFT and I wanted to see if Pyfa was any better..
But.. At first glance there are more things that EFT does well, then EFT does badly. -SPEED. EFT is SO MUCH faster.. -Settings. Pyfa don't have any? -Comparing multiple setups
Probably more, but I stopped after creating 2 fits. Can anyone tell me what it does better than EFT?
~Vogg
Greetings,
I have personaly not noticed any slowdowns in pyfa. In what areas are you experiencing them ?
And feature-wise, its mostly the same as EFT. Except for the ability to see multiple fits at once, although an actual full featured compare tool is something that is planned.

Really. Still hosted in the same place? I'm curious about this new architecture. :)

Feel free to hop on #pyfa on irc.coldfront.net, can answer any questions you'd have there. Wouldn't mind your opinion on what graphs to add to the new gui either.

Not sure how actively this thread is checked, but got a ping from corp-mate who talks on #eve-dev prolly, and he asked for some ideas to pass on to you guys (I think) about PYFA.
Didn't get any good back then, but this came up this morning:
would it be possible to get separate (from char and from hull) selectable (drop down menu) implants-set that could be also saved (and maybe even exported/imported)?
Would make setting up current char (API update) and some much used common implant sets easier to pick; would also work on all-lvl-5 or "usual set with lvl-4's" cases/chars.
Anyhow following PYFA dev, and that evefit.org thing, happening with great interest. Thanks :)
Hello there, please be sure we check the thread very carefully.
For the implant sets, I've added a ticket for it at http://trac.evefit.org/ticket/27.
It'll get done when its done, hopefully soon. There's a lot of things to go though! So we'll see (it'll get done before release eventualy)

I tried to browse through that trac-thing (sorry the phrase, but I'm not that much up-to-date with current software development... things.), but something now confuses me; is there some windows-bundle somewhere to pick, or is that 0.9 (beta) still the latest?
There aren't any binary builds yet (nor is the new version very usable yet). Patience!

I use Arch64 and I love your program. Keep it up!
Hey there, it seems the download of the icons pack either failed or got corrupted, the easiest thing to do is let it redownload by removing the .ini file from ~/.pyfa/ if that doesn't work and it keeps doing that, just download it manualy & extract it in ~/.pyfa/ and add this to the files.ini file:
[icons] version: 8

Hello there, I've double checked the icon pack today (the correct one being the dominion.tar.bz2 one) and I can open it with 7zip & then extract it to ~/.pyfa/ and pyfa then takes it just fine, as such. This should work fine as solution. (adding the abovementioned piece of text to files.ini is needed too, however)

Hello there, I've looked into this and found the cause, someone moved the icon packs to their own folder without correctly changing the files.ini file on the server. I've fixed this ,and the autoupdater should be working fine & dandy again (no need for any client updates at all)

Originally by: Noh Luciola Is there an easy way to transfer all of the saved loadouts from one instance of PyFA to another - particularly if I'm going between a Linux to WinXP box?
I know I can export (in text) each loadout individually but I was wondering if there was some kind of "save" file that I could just drop into a new instance of PyFA to get all of my old loadouts.
Thanks!
Copy over the contents of ~/.pyfa/ from one box to the other.

is the pygtk version will still being developed ? cause i try the wxwidget version, but i prefer the old pygtk one (lighter, prettier and more ergonomic imo)
Anyway thanks for the work ;)
Hello there,
No, I'm afraid its not. However, if you expand a bit and tell me what you dislike about the wx version, we might be able to improve on it!

Originally by: Qiel I have to say I really like the new version, but I can't figure out how to delete an item I added to a fit. For instance, if I loaded a MWD II, but don't have the skills for it, I can't remove it to put in the MWD I.
Maybe I am missing something and it is there. I just can't figure out how. Delete key doesn't work. Right click doesn't give an option. Can't cut.
Can you let me know how, because my only option right now is to delete the fitting and start over.
Mac OS X 1.6.5, PYFA 1.0 pre-beta
Hello there,
just double-click it, additionaly, a new thread was made for the new Pyfa 1.0 (its RC1 now!). It would be nice if discussion could be moved to that thread.
